Description

Introduction:

This course introduces the essential elements of HIQA’s procedures in audit in radiology as it applies in the dental setting. Implementation of these procedures should not be done in a one size fits all manner. Practice documentation must demonstrate that audit is practice specific and based on the existing risk.

This course uses 4 suggested topics to demonstrate how audits could be undertaken using HIQA’s procedures.

By the end of the course the attendee will be informed how to draw up an audit strategy and schedule, and how to choose appropriate topics to commence implementing these procedures in practice.

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for practice managers and owners, radiation protection officers (RPOs), dentists, and dental nurses who take the lead on Ionising Radiation and Radiation Protection within the practice. This course identifies the path towards implementing HIQA’s audit procedures, analysis the trends of audit findings and ensure the practice processes are ready for an inspector’s visit.

This may include:

  • Practice Managers/Operations Managers
  • Practice Owners/Undertaking Representative
  • Radiation Protection Officer/Dentists
  • Senior Dental Nurses/Compliance Leads

Course Objectives:

  • Examine the legal framework and national guidance for clinical audit in radiology
  • Review HIQA’s national procedures for clinical audit, and the obligations they place on dentists and practice owners
  • Suggest practical ways to integrate HIQA’s procedures into day-to-day dental practice

A record of attendance at this core CPD subject should be available as required by an inspector and maintained for at least 5 years.
